1949 Norton International 500
Overhead cam Nortons dominated road racing in the 30s winning all but one Senior TT between 191 and 1938 (in fact the one they last was by only 4 seconds over a 3 1/2 hour race). The post war International was the gentleman's sports bike, the bike equivalent of Jaguar's XK120. Because of their racing heritage (and shortage of Manxes), many Inters were used for racing. So it is rare to find such an original example. Correct guards, frame (Reynold 531 chrome molybdenum), close ratio gear cluster and long neck TT carb and built to concours standard by a professional restorer (it was his own bike), this particular machine is an absolute thoroughbred.
