1949 Norton Manx 550
Originally a 350, this matching numbers single knocker machine is now a full 550! In 1949 350 and 500 crankcases shared the same castings so it was not difficult to increase capacity. Frames on 40s Manxes had a tendency to break. The frame on this machine is unbroken. The bike has benefitted from fitting many parts from a 1950 Manx. These include aluminium rims, magnesium (not steel) front hub, genuine aluminium tanks, two-way fork damping and and a brand new aluminium TT carburettor c/w large 15û float bowl. Other hard-to-find authentic touches include genuine brake and clutch levers. It would be hard to find a better example of a 40s production racer. Engine
