This particular machine has a unique history. On of Ray Petty's own bikes, it was built as a "Brands Hatch" special and ridden by his works riders Derek Minter and Alan Shepherd. A careful look at the photos reveals the bottom rails of the frame have been removed in order to lower the engine. Ray has also fitted an Oldani front brake (much better than original Manx). Recently, a new "McIntosh" Manx motor with titanium conrod, valves and collets has been purchased and fitted. The Petty cambox has been retained and the original engine is included as spares. At the same time, a new carburettor was purchased. Since the new engine was installed, the bike has only been run once or twice and never in anger. A fine race-ready classic racer with considerable history.
